Default Melee Buffer Paragon

Edited to include improvents to the build.

Command 11+1
Leadership 8+1
Spear Mastery 11+1+2

[card]Crippling Anthem[/card] [card]Anthem of Envy[/card] [card]"Go for the Eyes!"[/card][card]Vicious Attack[/card][card]Spear of Lightning[/card] [card]Aggressive Refrain[/card] [optional] [card]Resurrection Signet[/card]

I'll put either Brace Yourself or Stand Your Ground in the optional slot.

The purpose of this build is to basically buff melee while doing a decent amount of damage itself. Crippling Anthem is for a snare and to add pressure to the other team. Vicious Attack +GTFE is almost like Cruel Spear. I've gotten some pretty good numbers from my attack on the target dummies.

Your problem will be adrenaline. When you use adrenaline skill, it takes 1 hit of adrenaline off your other adrenaline skills. With attack skills this isn't a problem, because you gain it back when the attack hits, thus when you have all adren attacks charged up you can chain them.

You have 2 adren chants and 2 shouts and every time you will use one of them, it will take another spear hit to charge them up again. Especially chants are annoying since they take 1 sec to cast, 0.75 sec aftercast then another attack to bring adrenaline up to former level on other skills.

i'd say drop tactics for another shout like .... find their weakness... its actually a great skill....especially with melee

This is PvE we're talking about here, Is the criipple really much use at all? Worth the elite? Also, I haven't really been impressed with Anthem of Envy personaly. It only works when you have adrenaline left over from a previous encounter, because by the time you get the adrenaline built up, too many targets will be under 50% already.

Why no Anthem of Flame?

I agree, Anthem would be a nice alternative to tactics in this situation Find Their Weakness wouldnt be bad either.

Never Surrender is something to look at incase your tanks/meleers are taking too heavy of damage and are condition heavy. It would allow casters a few more seconds to hit them with a heal.

Maybe even Stand Your Ground, I know you're based at Melee support but a little caster love never hurt.

Your a little too adrenaline heavy, and since youll be throwing out shouts every 2-3 throws you shouldnt have difficulty keeping your energy high.

Sorry I forgot to mention this, but this is a PvP build designed more for GvG. I can't really post this in Gladiator's Arena.

Adrenaline isn't really a problem since I will be throwing spears all the time anyway. Plus it's not that hard to keep up adrenaline. It's not like I have to stack the anthems. If I hit Anthem of Envy before a spike I should have a chance to auto attack before the melee spike so I can charge GTFE.

I chose Crippling Anthem because the melee will be able to cripple easily, especially if we're running Dervishes, and I'll be able to cripple kiters and over extending warriors.

I think Go for the Eyes would be a wasted slot as I can already cause a deepwound and the melee should also be able to cause a deepwound. Though having a caster able to cause a deepwound could be fun.

The typical combo i've been using is Antehm of Envy+auto attack +Vicious Attack+GTFE (activated before the attack has hit) hitting for 89 + deepwound if I crit on a 60al target or the same combo with Spear of Lightning instead of Vicious Attack for 106 damage. I tested this with a friend of mine and his Eviserate hit for 95+deepwound.

I've decided to drop Tactics. Anthem of flame seems kinda pointless to me with only 2 seconds of burning.I'd rather use something better in my optional slot. I'm thinking of maybe Brace Yourself or Stand Your Ground there.

Yeah, the difference between PvE and PvP makes all the difference with your build. Anthem of Envy and the like is great there, where it might not be in PvE

GFtE is a nice danage buff, and is great e-managment if you need some.

Another question is, how would those command skills work @9 command? That would allow you to get 12 leadership for a 3s Anthem of Flame, and boost spear to a total of 13 or 14.

At 9 command knocked GTFE down to 60% chance which made Vicious Attack rather unreliable and reduced the damage of Anthem of Envy to 15. So I think that I'd rather keep Command at 14. Plus I don't want to spec that high into Leadership for just one skill. The increased duration of Aggressive Refrain doesn't matter to me since I have at least 3 shouts and chants to keep it up though a nonadrenaline chant could be nice.

If you have 13-14 spear, that would mean about 80% of a critical hit. Or I might be wrong and they multiply instead of add, which would mean 68%.

I took your suggestions and boosted Spear Mastery to 14 and dropped Command to 12. I'm pleased with the increased damage. The decrease to GTFE doesn't seem like it effects my chance to crit at all.

I've also dropped Tactics and added either Brace Yourself or Stand Your Ground.

Is this PvP or PvE?

Katari concluded it was for PvE but I cant see where he/she would have gotten that info.

Crippling CAN be usefull in PvE, since monks are reduced to cowardly runners who only spam Reversal of Fortune on themselves, but it its worth an elite? No, not really.

PS, LightningHell, kitten avatars are the best

This build really lacks support for a support build

Burning Refrain might be a good idea too.

As stated earlier, this is a PvP build. I don't know why Katari thought otherwise.

I didn't ever say this was a support build. If it was, I would probably be packing defensive buffs for the backline, but then this would probably be motivation centered. The purpose of this build is to basically buff melee while doing a decent amount of damage itself.

Burning Refrain might be a good skill to fit in the optional slot. I'll have to try that.

*cough* Individual PvP builds can't be posted in Gladiator's Arena and people who do promtly have their thread locked and are told to post in the Campfire. Plus I've seen many, many PvP builds in the Campfire. * cough*

This is true, I'm sure JR appreciates it, even though it's fun to piss him off.

So? Who cares? It's problematic when you're trying to chain them consecutively, but just spam everything on recharge and continue to chug along throwing spears. If there's just one paragon and a couple warriors, it's rare to actually get any hate (blind, blurred) on the paragon.

Since you have endless energy, the best spear combo to go for is vicious/harrier's, since you gain the ability to do deep wound, and have a 1/2 second followup.

I don't like Crippling Anthem, but that's my problem, not the build's. Nor do I like Aggressive Refrain, but whatever. It's plausible.

Sinc Gladiator's section is for team-builds, individual builds have mostly been moved to Campfire.

Yes, I like my kitten avatar.

What would you suggest instead of Crippling Anthem and Aggressive Refrain.
I thought that Aggresive might be a bit difficult to keep up all the time. And I've also thought that Crippling Anthem might not be the best elite to use if my guild is running Warriors, but it should be fine if we're running Dervishes since they can use their attack skills more often than Warriors.

I'll try the Harriers suggestion.
